I finished out the Spring Quarter in Web Design with a 4.0, and here it is nearly the end of this fast-paced, 5 week Summer Quarter. Beginning in the fall, NGTC will be on Semesters which will be MUCH better. But let me tell you a little about my Summer Qtr...
Summer quarter has been VERY challenging: school has been from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Monday thru Thursday. Most days I arrived at 8:30 a.m and don't leave until Mr. Long runs me out at 4 or 4:30 p.m. (We do have from 11:30 to 12:35 for lunch - if our morning JavaScript class doesn't go over. Just barely enough time to drive home and eat a bite before having to be back at school for Adobe DreamWeaver class.) 5 weeks to do 10 weeks of work! Whew, glad this fast quarter is nearly over!
We have worked hard, we have had some fun, and we have grown to be a team. It has been great. And we all love Mr. Long! He is very knowledgeable on the subject, understands that we need to "get it" not just hear about it, and challenges us to strive to understand and then apply what we have learned. He also encourages helping one another - thus we all get to "teach" some part of what we have learned which reinforces it for all of us.
It has been a great quarter. The question is: can I get all the rest of my classwork and assignments done in the less-than-two-weeks we have left?! We shall see!! Smile.
As to Web Design: the more I learn the more I know I am in the right course of study. I really enjoy doing all this. Basic programming is interesting and challenging and I can certainly see the benefit for Web Design. JavaScript class really helped me with DreamWeaver just as XHTML helped with Flash and now DreamWeaver. Next semester is when the first 2 quarters will start to really pay off. I can hardly wait!
Enough: I will close and hope that all my family, friends, teachers, etc will read and make comments - and I apologize for waiting SO long to post!!
